Anthera Pharmaceuticals is an emerging biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of novel therapeutics to treat serious diseases with unmet medical needs. Our two product candidates are inhibitors of the family of human enzymes known as secretory phospholipase

”). In human and animal studies, high levels of have been directly implicated in serious cardiovascular, pulmonary, and dermatological diseases. Increased levels of :
1. lead to increases in inflammation and are correlated with increased levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and severity of disease;
2. lead to alteration of lipid metabolism, including higher levels of LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol);
3. increase the risk of inflammatory lung injury and reduce the protective function of lung airway surfactant.
4. are found in patients with psoriasis and lead to adverse modifications of the dermal layer in animal models.
By inhibiting with our compounds A-001 and A-002 we have the potential to address a number of significant unmet medical needs for patients with cardiovascular disease, pulmonary inflammation and dermatological diseases.
